Bungay Summer Market

Bungay Street Markets

Seasonal street markets

Bungay is always buzzing when a street market is on. There are now four throughout the year: the Garden Market in May, homes/gardens/handicrafts in July, the Food & Drink Market in October and the Christmas Market in December.

For regular updates please see facebook.com/bungaystreetmarkets

Earsham Street, the long shopping street that runs from Market Place to Cock Bridge (the main route to Earsham from Bungay) is closed to traffic for the day. There is always a buzzy atmosphere at the Markets, with live music under the ancient Butter Cross in Market Place where local charitable organisations also have their fund and awareness raising stalls.

Additional parking is provided at the Golf Club car park (accessed from the A143, off the roundabout by Clays printworks that leads to the Common). From there it is just a short walk across the bridge to Outney Road and Earsham Street.

All of Bungays shops/cafes and restaurants are open for the day, not just in Earsham Street, but on Market Place and St. Mary’s Street too.

Bungay Street Markets make a great day out.

Gorleston Cliff Top Festival

Gorleston Cliff Top Festival

About the Festival

Over 20 years of Clifftop Fun!

Gorleston Clifftop Festival is a free entry, family orientated, fun festival. The event takes place each year on the last full weekend in July. The festival attracts over 100,000 visitors across the weekend and really does have something for everyone!

We’re pleased to welcome First Furnishings Superstore on board as this year’s main sponsor, You can visit their website here to find out more about them.

This two day event is proudly organised by a voluntary committee (everyone does it in their spare time and no one gets paid) and costs around £34,000 to put on. No funding is received from the council, we depend on sponsorship, donations and pitch fees to cover the cost. We also depend on an army of volunteers to help us out over the festival weekend to ensure it all runs smoothly!

Firm favourites of the festival include 40 hours of live music across the main stage and acoustic stage, a large fun fair and lots of stalls to browse. A free children’s arena which plays host to pirates, princesses and birds of prey is popular with the little ones and, for the four legged critters, the fun dog show is open for all dogs above 6 months old. Other attractions include emergency services, strongman competition, WAW Wrestlers, comedy tent, dog agility, living history, clifftop charity basketball (these attractions vary year on year so be sure to check out the event guide for what’s happening this year). Performers from local dance and stage schools display their talent on the main stage on Sunday mornings and sports groups demonstrate their sporting ability throughout Sunday in the display ring.

Visitors are welcome to bring their own food and drink on site but, for those who prefer to eat out, we have a variety of food stalls and bars on site including burgers, hot dogs, spicy thai, fish and chips hog roast, Italian, licensed bar and ale tents.

The event started in 1998, was traditionally known as Gorleston Clifftop Gala and, in conjunction with the Round Table, hosted the Gorleston Raft Race. The main focus of the Gala was to host a platform where charities from across the area could come to one place, with lots of people, to fundraise for their individual good causes. This ethos is continued year after year and over 30 charities pitch up on a stretch of the cliffs and raise about £10,000.

Looking to the future of the festival we can only hope it gets bigger and better. Without fail there will always be two jam packed days with entertainment and music, a busy fairground and so much more. To check out what is going on at this year’s event click on the event guide link above or check out our Facebook and twitter.

Aldeburgh Food & Drink Festival

Consistently rated one of the UK’s leading food festivals, the Aldeburgh Food and Drink Festival will be held at Snape Maltings over the weekend of 28 & 29 September 2024.

The region’s finest food and drink producers will be there to provide visitors with the highest quality and variety of products, alongside a buzzing streetfood area; interactive family activities; entertainment; and a strong emphasis this year on agriculture and food education.

The Festival is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to supporting and promoting the local community and businesses within it. We work year-round to give Suffolk producers and businesses a platform to showcase what they do, and get recognition and awareness from chefs, restaurants and business people all over the country.

Each year we have to fundraise to cover the costs of the Festival and to keep it alive for the future. We are very grateful to our sponsors, supporters, friends and visitors who all play a part in making it possible. Your entry fees, for example, go straight back to the local producers and businesses.

In case you haven’t heard about it yet the Fen Edge Festival is back in 2024, and everyone’s invited! After an enforced lay-off, FECA and the Organising Committee are really excited to be able to bring the Festival back on 22nd-23rd June, and look forward to seeing everyone.

The Festival usually happens every two years. It brings the five Fen Edge villages together for a three-day celebration of family fun, activities, music and entertainment.

All the usual events, stalls and activities will be taking place, centred as ever on Cottenham Village Green and Village College.

The Venue music tent is morphing into the Fen Edge’svery own mini-Glastonbury Pyramid Stage to offer you the very best in local musical talent. The mini fun-fair will be back with the very popular carousel. FECA groups and others will be showcasing their activities.

Sustainability remains a key theme for the Festival. I’m sure there are some of you still using your eco cups from last time! This year we are taking things even further. We are working with Sustainable Cottenham to further reduce waste. Sustainable Cottenham and Cambridge Sustainable Food will be holding cooking demonstrations, and we will be planting our own virtual festival forest around the Fen Edge through tree sponsorship.

Bungay Garden Street Market 2024

The East Anglian Game & Country Fair began in 2004 and is an annual two day, family event taking place on April 27th & 28th 2024 at the Euston Estate near Thetford, just off the A11.

Home to the Duke and Duchess of Grafton, Euston Hall is steeped in history and provides a beautiful backdrop to the already established events on the Estate. For more information on the venue please visit www.eustonhall.co.uk

Euston Estate provides a central location for The East Anglian Game & Country Fair, only 30 minutes from Norwich on the dualled A11 near Elveden/Thetford with excellent access to the A14 for Cambridge and Newmarket and only 20 minutes to Bury St Edmunds.

The East Anglian Game & Country Fair was ideally suited to this beautiful venue and our first show here in April 2017 attracted record crowds. It also gave us the opportunity to further evolve and develop the show, with the space and freedom to invite new attractions and events, whilst ensuring that the popular events that we have always enjoyed remain.

Completing a selection of East Anglian food and drink produce at it's finest. We are of course still purely a food and drink market, an original 'farmers' market, so please do all you can to support our fantastic local producers and spread the word to anyone you know who may have thought about visiting but never quite made it !

As usual we will have a lovely food hamper to raffle and our recently refurbished tea room will be open for you to enjoy freshly brewed teas and coffees and a bacon roll !
